Sissu Sightseeing Tour

Sissu (Snow Point) Tour

Sissu, also known as Khwaling, is a small village in the Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh that has transformed into a major tourism hub since the opening of the Atal Tunnel. Located at an altitude of approximately 3,120 meters (10,235 ft), it serves as the gateway to the rugged, high-altitude landscapes of Lahaul and Spiti. Sissu is much more than just a scenic stopover; it is a deep-rooted cultural landscape that has only recently opened its doors to the wider world. It follows a unique blend of Tibetan Buddhism and indigenous Bon traditions.

Tour Itinerary

MANALI TO NEHRU KUND

Tour starts at early morning from Manali to Nehru Kund.

Nehru Kund is located just outside Manali on the way to Solang Valley. It is a quiet, historical pitstop known for its “magical” water.

NEHRU KUND TO ZIPLINE

Just a few minutes’ drive past Nehru Kund toward Solang Valley, you will reach the Bahang / Palchan area, which is the primary hub for ziplining before you hit the main Solang Ground. The most popular spot here is often referred to as the Jogini Zipline or the Solang Zipline Point (at Palchan). It is famous for being one of the longest and most scenic river-crossing ziplines in the region.

ZIPLINE POINT TO SOLANG VALLEY

Tour will head towards Solang Valley. Solang Valley, often referred to as the “Adventure Capital of Himachal Pradesh,” is a side valley at the top of the Kullu Valley. Located about 14 km from Manali, it sits at an elevation of approximately 2,560 meters (8,400 ft) and serves as the primary playground for snow enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.

SOLANG VALLEY TO DHUNDI

Tour will head towards Dhundi. Dhundi is the “quiet achiever” located further up the road. Situated about 20 km from Manali (and 7–8 km past Solang), Dhundi is a picturesque spot that serves as both a strategic landmark and a pristine base for high-altitude adventure.

DUNDI TO SOUTH PORTAL OF ATAL TUNNEL

Tour will head towards South Portal. The South Portal of the Atal Tunnel is the entrance point on the Manali side. At an altitude of approximately 3,060m (10,040 ft), it serves as the dramatic threshold where the lush, green Kullu Valley meets the high-altitude engineering of the 9.02 km tunnel.

SOUTH PORTAL OF ATAL TUNNEL TO NORTH PORTAL

Tour will head towards North Portal. The Atal Tunnel, named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is a masterpiece of modern Himalayan engineering. It is famously the longest highway tunnel in the world at an altitude above 10,000 feet (3,048 meters). Stretching 9.02 km, it cuts through the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas, connecting the lush Kullu Valley to the high-altitude, arid Lahaul Valley.

NORTH PORTAL OF ATAL TUNNEL TO SISSU

Tour will head towards Sissu. Sightseeing Points – Sissu Lake and Sissu Waterfall.

Sissu, also known as Khwaling, is the first major village you encounter in the Lahaul Valley after exiting the Atal Tunnel. At an altitude of 3,120 meters, it has rapidly transformed from a quiet agricultural hamlet into a major hub for Himalayan tourism.

Sissu Lake: A stunning high-altitude lake that reflects the surrounding snow-capped peaks like a mirror. In winter (Jan–March), it often freezes over, while in summer, it offers boating.

Sissu Waterfall (Palden Lhamo Dhar): A magnificent 50-meter cascade that drops from a high cliff. It is best viewed from the highway, but a short 2-km trek takes you right to its base.

SISSU TO MANALI

Tour will head back to Bus Stand, Manali for its end.
